Engines and Performance
The Rebel comes standard in a 5.7-litre HEMI VVT V8 eight-speed automatic transmission engine. Variable Valve Timing (VVT) engines have almost no drawbacks. One benefit is that it increases the engine’s fuel efficiency, and another is it boosts the engine’s power output by as much as 25%, providing better drivability and handling of the truck.
The truck can be upgraded to a 5.7-litre VVT V8 engine with MDS, eTorque, and FuelSaver, which adds $1,195 to the total price. You also have the option to install the 3.0-litre turbocharged eight-speed automatic diesel engine. The turbocharged diesel configuration can produce 260 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque.
The 5.7-litre (with or without eTorque) has a maximum output of 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. The truck has a maximum payload capacity of 1,800 pounds.
Exterior
The Rebel has more badass styling than the lower trims with LED exterior lights, a raised ride height with an upgraded suspension, fog lights, body-coloured door handles, chrome bumpers, and all-terrain tires with 45.72cm aluminum wheels (plus a full-size spare). The truck features underbody skid plates for off-roading protection, tow hooks, and a class IV receiver hitch for trailer towing.
Interior, Safety, and Technology
The cabin has a 12.7cm touchscreen, Bluetooth, a six-speaker sound system, and power windows. Additional creature comforts include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, cloth, vinyl seats, 60/40-split rear seats, rubber floor mats, and carpeted floors. The front has individual bucket seats with a centre console, and the driver’s seat is power adjustable. There’s also additional storage space in the storage bins under the rear floor.
The trailer sway damping technology adjusts the truck's brakes to assist with controlling the movement of the trailer when it starts swaying. Some other features include cruise control, hill descent control, and an electronic locking rear axle.
The truck has driver aids, including a forward-collision warning system that’ll alert you of impending collisions. The system will apply brakes in certain conditions. You have the option to upgrade the truck to include adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitoring system, a lane-keeping assist system, and much more.
