2021 Chrysler Grand Caravan Review

The Grand Caravan has long been a favourite of Canadian family drivers, but the original Dodge model was retired in 2020 after many years at the head of the sales ranks. Thankfully, the nameplate has found a fresh lease of life with an all-new model released under the Chrysler brand. Here are the highlights of the 2021 Chrysler Grand Caravan, now available at our Prince Rupert dealership.

What’s New for 2021

The 2021 Grand Caravan is a new model for Canada, with the change to the Chrysler badge giving an opportunity for a complete makeover from top to bottom.

Design & Performance

Although the Grand Caravan is aimed squarely at the minivan and passenger wagon market, it borrows plenty of styling features from Chrysler’s SUV range. The three-row, the seven-seater cabin is streamlined but confident, while still providing plenty of interior space for full-family comfort.

An SUV of this size needs plenty of power under the hood, and the Grand Caravan’s powertrain doesn’t disappoint. Every model in the lineup is built around a meaty 3.6L V6 engine delivering 287 horsepower, passed to front-wheel drive through a nine-speed automatic transmission. The impressive output shows through in a 0-100km/h acceleration figure of seven seconds, a spritely achievement for a seven-seater minivan.

Advanced Infotainment and Safety Features

Two screens are featured as standard in every Grand Caravan trim. A 3.5″ digital display centred in the dash provides essential driving information, while entertainment and safety features are controlled through a 7″ touchscreen. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth streaming are provided as standard, while an optional rear-seat DVD screen is a handy way to keep younger passengers entertained for quieter stress-free journeys.

The Grand Caravan performed perfectly in the standard NHTSA crash tests, earning the full five stars available. The physical safety is backed up by an essential range of active safety systems, with key standard and available highlights including:

  • Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts.
  • Rear parking sensors.
  • Rear automatic emergency braking.

And of course, as you’d expect from a modern family minivan there’s a full range of airbags protecting passengers in all parts of the cabin.
